Powerball Ticket Prices Going Up; Offering Bigger Jackpots

LANSING (WWJ) – Multi-state lottery organizers are putting more power into the Powerball jackpot — with bigger jackpots — and pricier tickets.

Starting January 15, 2012, ticket prices for the multi-state game will double to $2.00, but the starting jackpot will also double to $40 million.

The prize for matching all five numbers — but not the Powerball — will jump from $200,000 to $1 million. The move is an effort to differentiate the game from Mega Millions.
