Waterford Police Arrest Teens For Multiple Car Break-Ins

WATERFORD TWP. (WWJ) - Police in Waterford Township have arrested four teenagers in connection with a series of car break-ins at an apartment complex.

Officers responded to the Ashton Pines apartment complex on North Oakland Boulevard just after 2 a.m. on Monday after a citizen reported suspicious subjects were looking into vehicles parked in the carport areas.

When police arrived they arrested four teenagers, including 18-year-old Juan Diaz who is on probation for a May 2011 retail fraud conviction.

Diaz, along with a 16-year-old from Pontiac and a 14- and 16-year-old from Waterford, are believed to have broken into at least five vehicles in the complex.

Police say judging by the amount of stolen property they recovered, the group could be responsible for even more burglaries.

The youths were released to their parents pending the issuance of charges. Diaz was arraigned Tuesday on charges of breaking and entering an automobile and resisting and obstructing a police officer.

Police say Diaz told them he was breaking into vehicle to steal electronics and sell them for between $10 and $40.
