Golfers Bask In The 'Winter' Weather

HUNTINGTON WOODS (WWJ) - It's January but the mercury reached into the 50's Friday afternoon about 20 degrees above normal, that sent golfers flocking to some area courses, like Rackham Golf Course in Huntington Woods, where Raymond Shaw of Bloomfield Hills played for the first time in January.

Shaw and others say they dressed in layers and warmed up as they played.

"Years ago I can remember the weather being like this and we golfed in December but never in January ... It's great, better than the summer time," said Shaw.

Shaw and others say they dressed in layers and warmed up as they played.

John Laposky of Waterford also took in a round at Rackham Golf.

"There's a few spots of ice out there, it helps the roll ... but it cost me money today, as usual, but I got my exercise in - so who cares," said Laposky.

Most golfers tell WWJ they rarely get to play in January.  The normal temperature this time of year is 30 degrees.
