Big First Day For Ford, Chrysler At Auto Show

Ready for a Ford that gets 100 miles per gallon? It's here. WWJ AutoBeat Reporter Jeff Gilbert visited the North American International Show at Cobo Center to bring back important unveilings from the three domestic auto companies. The show opens to the public Saturday.

Ford is promoting its 2013 Ford Fusion that has new technology associated with luxury vehicles, like blind spot detection and self parking, to place it in direct competition with the Toyota Camry. The new Fusion also has hybrid and electric versions with staggeringly high fuel economy.

"We have a great foundation with the current Fusion in the marketplace," Ford spokesman Mark Fields said.

Chrysler has its Dodge Dart, the first join venture with Fiat. It's based on an Alfa Romeo platform and takes aim squarely at the BMW 3 series.

Check out the vehicles in the video below.
