Car Accident On Detroit’s East Side Kills 2-Year-Old

DETROIT (WWJ) – An overnight crash in Detroit kills a young boy and leaves his sister critically injured. The accident happened on Hoover and Pinewood on the city’s east side early Sunday evening.

WWJ’s Mike Campbell reports that authorities are working on the theory that a suspected drunk driver lost control and slammed into a car carrying a mother and her children. A two-year-old boy was killed and his eight-year-old sister was critically injured. The mother of the two children wasn’t injured.

The 62-year-old suspected drunk driver from Shelby Twp. was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. He’s currently in police custody. Authorities are still waiting on preliminary breath test results for that driver.
