After years of turmoil and bad news, it’s a brand-new day for Ford and GM, whose leaders spent time with WWJ-TV’s “Michigan Matters” host Carol Cain at the North American International Auto Show.

So, what state are the auto companies in this year at NAIAS?

“(It’s) incredibly invigorating, incredibly invigorating in terms of what the team has been able to do in terms of improving the business and getting us back on the growth track,” Ford Executive Vice President Mark Fields told Cain.

GM’s North American President Mark Reuss is just as optimistic.

“I don’t want to be boastful on it, but it feels good to have that (success), it’s based on our product and our dealers,” Reuss said.
