Feds Bust Up Major Drug Ring In Michigan

DETROIT (WWJ) - Federal officials have busted a major drug ring in southeast Michigan.

Fifteen people were arrested and thousands of pounds of marijuana, cocaine and cash were confiscated.

DEA agent Rich Isaacson tells WWJ that arrests were made in Wayne, Oakland and Macomb Counties.

"In fact one seizure alone from this group netted close to 2,300 hundred pounds of marijuana - so very large," said Isaacson.

"This was certainly a large-scale drug trafficking operation that was bringing in thousands of pounds of marijuana, and multiple kilos of cocaine - from out of this state and into this region - to be distributed here in southeast Michigan," said Isaacson.

Isaacson says there is every reason to believe that the confiscated drugs would have reached deep within the metropolitan Detroit community.

If convicted the defendants could face life in prison.
