Shelby American Unveils Product For "First Time" At 2012 NAIAS
DETROIT (WWJ) - One of the must-see attractions at the North American International Auto Show will be the 50th anniversary celebration of Shelby American, the performance car company created by racer Carroll Shelby.
Shelby American is kicking off the celebration by stomping their foot on the gas with the reveal of Ford Mustang Shelby 500 Super Snake -- a muscle car lover's dream, with over 800 horsepower under the hood.
Shelby American President John Luft will kick off the company's golden year with these special anniversary edition cars at very first display at the Auto Show.
"Surprisingly, this is the first time Shelby American is a company that has ever on its own unveiled a product. We've unveiled products here in the past, but it's been with Ford. We've never done it on our own," Luft told WWJ's Ron Dewey.

With a sticker of over $90,000 and only 300 to be made, Luft expects them to move fast, so to speak.
"Everybody around us has EV's, hybrids, and we uncover 800 horsepower, which seems to be kind of rebellious, but that's Carroll Shelby," said Luft.
