Firefighters Battle Commercial Building Fire In SW Detroit
DETROIT (WWJ) - Firefighters have put out a massive fire in a commercial building in Southwest Detroit.
The blaze broke out early in the morning on Thaddeus Street, just north of the Rouge River bridge.
Witness said flames were shooting through the roof and there was heavy smoke in the area. People driving on I-75 told WWJ Newsradio 950 they could see the smoke from the freeway.
Fire crews used ladders to attack the fire from above.
There initially was some concern about hazardous materials possibly in the building but, by late morning, the fire had been extinguished.
No injuries were reported.
