DETROIT (WWJ) – Think of it as Sesame Street — starring some of your favorite Detroit Tigers.
Several Detroit Tigers hit the Fox Theatre stage Saturday for the first ever Detroit Tigers Kids Convention. It’s a variety show, geared toward the team’s younger fans — but adults will have a lot of fun, too.
“A lot of our younger fans have been to shows like Sesame Street Live and Yo Gabba Gabba, and those types of things,” Tigers’ Promotions Director Eli Bayless said. “We’re kinda taking Detroit Tigers baseball and creating this type of variety show featuring Detroit Tigers players.”
Bayless says nearly a dozen players will be on the stage — including Jose Valverde, Doug Fister, Max Scherzer and Brandon Inge.
“They’ll be introduced in a pretty dramatic fashion, coming down through the audience and lots of lights and music and fun as we introduce them, said Bayless. “They’ll be participating in some Q&A sessions and also participating in some fun game show-style activities as well, and we’ll be including kids the whole time, from the beginning of the show all the way to the end.”
Tickets for the show can be purchased on the team’s website – tigers.com.
