No Decision Yet In 'Complex' Bianca Jones Case
DETROIT (WWJ/AP) - More than a month later, prosecutors still are deciding whether to file charges in the disappearance of a 2-year-old Detroit girl, whose father says she was kidnapped during a carjacking.
Wayne County Prosecutor's spokeswoman Maria Miller issued a statement Tuesday saying the case is "very labor-intensive and complex." She said Prosecutor Kym Worthy will hold a news conference when it's appropriate.
Detroit police asked for an arrest warrant in mid-December, although the name of the suspect hasn't been released.
WWJ Newsradio 950 spoke with Police Chief Ralph Godbee,who said detectives have been diligent in their investigation case of Bianca Jones' disappearance.
"It's nothing that we can rush. We have to be very deliberate in this investigation and we are still soliciting tips," said Godbee. "It has died down a little bit in the media, but our investigative intensity has not died down relative to the case."
D'Andre Lane said his daughter was riding with him when his car was carjacked at gunpoint on Dec. 2. The car was recovered but not the child.
Lane repeatedly has denied wrongdoing.
