DTE Energy Issues RFP For School Education Program

DETROIT -- DTE Energy is seeking bids from qualified contractors to implement a comprehensive energy efficiency School Education Program for 4th and 6th grade students and their teachers, offered by its Michigan electric and gas utilities, Detroit Edison and MichCon.

The successful bidder will be able to develop and provide educational programming on energy fundamentals, energy conservation and efficiency, and the environmental and economic implications to students and teachers in its electric and gas service territory.

Additional services include hands-on classroom demonstrations and activities, Web-based content and resources, and a take-home energy kit for the students to install in their home.

DTE Energy expects that the winning bidder will focus on the areas of establishing leadership and pro-active initiatives and cultivating creative ideas, education and outreach strategies that influence students and their families to reduce their energy use and increase energy efficiency awareness.

All prospective contractors must have extensive experience and demonstrated abilities in all aspects of energy efficiency program design, implementation, monitoring, measurement, education and training.

All parties interested in receiving more information about the RFP should send their contact information, referencing the School Education Program RFP, to ENERGYOP@dteenergy.com no later than Monday, Jan. 23.
