Police Make Arrest In Connection With Gas Station Murder

HIGHLAND PARK (WWJ) – Police say an arrest has been made in connection with the brutal murder at a Highland Park gas station.

WWJ’s Vickie Thomas spoke with Police Chief Lorenzo Veal, who said a person of interest has been taken into custody in connection with the shooting death of 59-year-old Hassan Hussein.

Veal said police were able to apprehend the suspect, whose identity was not released, after tips from the public led investigators to the man’s home, where he was taken into custody without incident.

Police believe a second person was also involved and are currently looking for that man.

Hussein was working the overnight shift at the Citgo gas station on Hamilton and Glendale streets when he was fatally shot during a robbery around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday.
