Traffic Alert: Weekend Road Work

DETROIT (WWJ) - Know before you go! WWJ's John Bailey said the weekend will be free of major construction complications on local freeways, although a few lane closures will exist.

The following projects were announced by MDOT. As always, some of this work may be postponed due to weather.

I-275:

In Wayne County, the right lane of northbound I-275 will be closed at Michigan Avenue from 6 a.m. Saturday until 5 a.m. Monday for bridge maintenance. In addition, the ramp from eastbound Michigan Ave to northbound I-275 will be closed during the same time frame.

I-75:

In Oakland County, the necessary lane closures on I-75 at 12 Mile Road are not expected to begin until the week of Jan 30. Crews will continue working on 12 Mile under the freeway installing temporary support measures.

I-94:

In Wayne County, the right lane closure on eastbound I-94, from Belleville to Haggerty has opened to traffic. The right shoulder remains closed at this time, as does the ramp from northbound Haggerty to eastbound I-94. The ramp is expected to open at the end of this month.

M-85 (Fort Street):

In Wayne County, starting at 7 a.m. on Friday, Jan 20, Eureka Road will be closed at the median of Fort Street. The closure is expected to remain in place until early April. Traffic is detoured to the immediate crossovers on Fort Street for eastbound and westbound Eureka Road. Again, access to Fort is maintained on Eureka, you just can't cross Fort directly.
