Spartans 83, Boilermakers 58

EAST LANSING (WWJ) - The Michigan State Spartans get back on the winning track beating the Purdue Boilermakers 83-58 on Saturday.

Freshman Brandon Dawson led the Spartans with 14 points, Derrick Nix had 12 points and Draymond Green had eight points and 12 rebounds in the victory over Purdue.

With a seven point lead heading into the half - No. 9 Spartans broke the game open in the second half; shooting 68% to Purdue's 28% (18 of 64 attempts).

Lewis Jackson and John Hart each had 10 points for Purdue (14-6, 4-3).

Michigan State (16-4, 5-2 Big Ten) didn't shoot as many 3-pointers but was helped by hitting 7 of their 13 - 3 point attempts - the Boilermakers hit only 3 of 20 - 3 point attempts.

The Spartans take on Minnesota next on Wednesday in East Lansing.
