DETROIT (WWJ) – The price of a stamp is set to rise a penny on Sunday to 45 cents. Meanwhile, mailing a post card will cost an extra three cents, up to 32.

Margaret Miller of Benton Harbor stopped by the Novi Post Office ahead of the price change to stock up on forever stamps — which people can still use when the price goes up.

“I think about 200 and that will do us for a long time, we email more anyways, as it is I pay all my bills online – so I very seldom use the post office,” said Miller.

The U.S. Postal Service says the price hike needed to help the agency out of a financial crisis brought on by declining mail volume.

You’d think at least they could deliver the mail to the correct address on my street! It’s a very short street and I get everyone else’s bills, w-2s, unemployment insurance communications, etc…, I put them back in my box with a message written “delivered to wrong address”. Unfortunately, my neighbors are not taking the time to do this or maybe they’re just too nosey to see how much I owe to Visa or how much I made last year. The carrier(s) (we don’t have a regularly assigned one) also cannot take the time to shut the mailbox. It does no good to complain. The manager is always on a 5 hr lunch break. The sooner they go out of business altogether the better. No matter than a bunch of overpaid, undereducated, rude employees!

U can do something about it call 800-275-8777 or go online to http://www.usps.com. USPS does care about the customers and believe me something will be done.

I hope Margaret didn’t make a special trip. She may have spent more on gas than the $2 she saves

That is why they made a phone–just call – why would anyone send a letter anymore.

They can go up to a $1.00 per letter if they like, it will make little difference. The only way to change things is to start at the top and work down. If they ran it like a real business they would have already made the needed changes. You must treat a customer like a customer and you must have competetive prices. I find it really stupid to keep buying prime time ads on tv for flat rate boxes that nothing fits. If it fits you are over paying! They break everything that can be broken and cry if they can’t break it. Just try to get a claim paid when they throw something and break it. They will deny the claim due to packing even if it was wrapped better than they would have packed.

They only hire the rudest people that try their best to rip you off at every chance. All I can say is fire them all and pray for anyone that hires one of them. I would never ever hire a POSTAL EMPLOYEE! They are all trained the wrong way.
