Aretha Franklin Not Going To The Chapel, And She's Not Going To Get Married

Deciding they were "moving too fast," Aretha Franklin, 69, and longtime friend Willie Wilkerson called their relationship quits Monday before taking it down the aisle.

Franklin, who recently said she was shopping for wedding dresses at Vera Wang and hoped for a summer wedding in the Hamptons, released a statement that said: "Will and I have decided we were moving a little too fast, and there were a number of things that had not been thought through thoroughly.

"There will be no wedding at this time."

So, what happened? Don't expect to hear it from the Queen of Soul anytime soon.

"We will not comment on it any further because of the very personal and sensitive nature of it," the statement said. "We appreciate all of the many well wishes from friends."

Franklin has been married twice before.
