DEARBORN (WWJ/AP) - AAA Michigan says gasoline prices are down about 16 cents per gallon during the past week to a statewide average of $3.40.

The auto club said Monday the average is about 27 cents per gallon higher than last year at this time.

Of the cities it surveys, AAA Michigan reported the cheapest price for self-serve unleaded fuel is in the Saginaw and Bay City areas, where it's $3.32 a gallon. The highest average can be found in the Marquette area at $3.55.

In Southeast Michigan, it looks like your best bet is Waterford where GasBuddy.com reports the Sunoco on Dixie Hwy near North Telegraph Road is selling for $3.15 per gallon (cash).  You'll find the second best price, $3.17, in Sterling Heights at Zazz on 15 Mile near Mound Rd.  Several service stations in Livonia were selling $3.18 Monday morning.
