Saturday night at The Palace used to be so much different.
Instead of a third full like it was, at least to the naked eye, when the Pistons hosted Portland this weekend, it was invariably full.
It was a place to see — and be seen.
High fashion. Date night. Prestige. Cool. High drama.
It was impossible to imagine what rock bottom looked like then — during the “Bad Boys” Pistons or “Going to Work” eras of the Pistons.
Now it’s the NBA’s version of the abyss.
A building with a smattering of fans. No buzz surrounding the team.
