Baconfest Comes To Royal Oak, Tickets On Sale Now

If you're the kind of person who likes to eat everything on the pig but the whistle, you're in luck: Baconfest is coming to Royal Oak.
Tickets are on sale now for the state's first celebration of all things bacon. Tina Fey would speak for many metro Detroiters when she says, "I want to go to there."
Individual tickets are $45 each; VIP tickets are $75. With one ticket, you can eat unlimited bacon and have several drinks from 6 to 10 p.m. June 2 at Royal Oak Farmers Market, at 11 Mile Road and Main Street in Royal Oak.
"We'll have samples of more types of bacon than you could possibly imagine," organizers said.
Tasty bacon treats will be served up in official "Bacon Booths" staffed by participating restaurants.
On hand will be samples and dishes that contain: traditional (streaky) bacon, back (loin) bacon, applewood smoked bacon, maplewood smoked bacon, hickory smoked bacon, peppered bacon, Canadian bacon, turkey bacon, pancetta (Italian bacon), organic (uncured) bacon, and some surprises. Some kind of fak'in bacon will be on hand for vegetarians who don't want to be left out.
Bacon wrapped around bacon that's been infused with bacon? It could happen.
"We'll have bacon wrapped around other foods, because everything tastes better with bacon," organizers wrote on the website. "We'll also have bacon-themed desserts -- because you know you've always wanted to try one."
Count on sponsor Treat Dreams, the Ferndale microcreamery, for some kind of bacon flavored ice cream. The tasty treat makers have been known to trot out peanut butter and chocolate-covered bacon ice cream on special occasions. A summertime collaboration with The Hungry Dudes brought "Snout and Stout," an ice cream concoction with stout, caramel, chocolate, brownie and bacon.
At baconfest, local restaurants, celebrity chefs, and vendors are expected to take over and help metro Detroit "celebrate our love (some say obsession) with all things bacon-related," the website says.
