GROSSE POINTE PARK (WWJ) - A family member of murdered Grosse Pointe Park resident Jane Bashara speaks out about the reported release of a person of interest in the case.

The sister of Bob Bashara, Laura Maurer, spoke with the media Friday afternoon.

Maurer says she is worried about Joe Gentz, after hearing reports that suspect Gentz is being released from jail.

“I don’t know, it’s just very scary. We’re dealing with the loss of this tragedy of our poor Jane, we’re grieving over here. My niece is coming home and I want her safe, and I just want protection,” said Maurer on FOX 2.

Maurer is visiting from California and says she does not know Gentz personally.
