Broken Nose Could Set Back Knight

Brandon Knight impressed his coaches and teammates in recent days with his mental toughness. In the coming weeks, he'll get a chance to prove how well he can perform after a physical setback.

The Pistons' prized rookie point guard suffered a broken nose during the first quarter of Detroit's 89-87 victory over New Orleans Saturday. Coach Lawrence Frank is optimistic Knight can play Wednesday at New Jersey.

"They'll have to reset it and get him fit for a mask," Frank said. "Hopefully by Tuesday, we'll have him back to practice. Give him unbelievable credit. He gets his nose broken and he's begging to get back in the game but we couldn't do it."

Knight shrugged off adversity earlier in the week after he played his worst game of the season against Milwaukee and potential All-Star Brandon Jennings Monday. He went scoreless in 24 minutes while committing four turnovers as Jennings led the Bucks to a 103-82 rout.
