The Wings’ power play has become a major problem. It went 0 for 4 on Saturday, registering only four shots. The team is 6 for 65 (9.2 percent) in its past 22 games. The problem stems from a lack of motion, as players are too stationary. And they’re not getting enough shots. They have experimented with different looks in practice.

–Goaltender Jimmy Howard acknowledged that he will miss more than two games because of his broken right index finger. But he really isn’t sure how long he’ll be out. He estimated two weeks, confident he’ll return before the 4-6 weeks doctors told him it would take for the finger to heal. Howard doesn’t need surgery and said there is no risk of making the injury worse. He believes he can return to action before it fully heals.
