Millions In Lottery Winnings Go Unclaimed

SHELBY TWP. (WWJ) – The clock is ticking for the holder of a winning Fantasy 5 lottery ticket worth over $213,745. Sold one year ago today at a gas station in Shelby Township, it’s time to claim it, or forget it.

“We have to actually see that ticket, and validate that ticket by 4 o’clock today,” said Andi Brancato from the Michigan Lottery Office. “So the holder would need to come up here to Lansing and bring that ticket with them.”

While unusual, Brancato said the size of this latest unclaimed ticket is not unprecedented.

Presently, a $1 Million “Classic Lotto” ticket set to expire in June also remains unclaimed. Last year, a total of $23 Million in winnings went unclaimed and was donated to the Michigan School Aid Fund.
