The Super Bowl is the ultimate all-or-nothing game. A team either wins it, or they won’t – period.
It’s not a building block for the team that gets there and loses. At least it hasn’t been for a long, long time.
Since the advent of the Super Bowl following the 1966 season, only one Super Bowl losing team won it the following year. Miami was crushed by Dallas following the 1971 season and then put together a perfect season on the way to the Super Bowl title in 1972.
