HOLLYWOOD (WWJ) – So much to see at the box office this weekend! How to choose what to see? First of all, are you in the mood for love – or for action and adventure?

If you’re in the mood for love, there are two new movies to choose from: W/E, directed by Madonna; and The Vow, starring Rachael McAdams and Channing Tatum. However, if you’re in the mood for action and adventure, there’s Safe House starring Denzel Washington (need I say more!), the 3D version of Star Wars Episode I The Phantom Menace, and the family-friendly Jungle 2: The Mysterious Island.

W/E is a romantic drama focusing on the affair between King Edward VIII and American divorcee Wallis Simpson. The film also parallels a contemporary romance between an unhappily married transplanted southerner living in New York and a Russian security guard. Rated R.

The Vow is the story of a newlywed couple involved in a car accident that leaves the wife in a coma. When she wakes up with severe memory loss, her husband fights to win her love again. Rated PG-13.

Safe House stars Ryan Reynolds along with Oscar® winner Washington, who plays the most dangerous renegade from the CIA who comes back into the spotlight after a decade on the run. When the South African safe house he’s sent to is attacked by mercenaries, rookie operative Matt Weston (Reynolds) escapes with him. Suddenly, Weston finds himself going from living a relatively comfortable existence as a “housekeeper” to a man on the run with his unwilling and unlikely partner. Rated R.

Journey 2: The Mysterious Island is a follow-up to 2008’s “Journey to the Center of the Earth.” Journey 2 stars Josh Hutcherson as 17-year-old Sean Anderson, who receives a coded distress signal from a mysterious island where no island should exist. When Sean’s new stepfather, Hank (Dwayne Johnson), is unable to stop him from going, he joins the adventure. Rated PG.

And, for the first time ever, audiences around the world will have the opportunity to experience “Star Wars Episode I The Phantom Menace” in 3D. What a perfect way to introduce the theatrical phenomenon to a new generation! Rated PG.

So, if your weekend plans include a trip to the movies, you’ll have plenty to choose from! Enjoy – and I’ll see you at the movies!
