Steve Yzerman can't play in the Wings-Maple Leafs alumni game the way he wants. His surgically repaired knee won't allow it. No one wants to see Yzerman struggle through shifts. No one wants to see this proud man being a shell of his former self, skating at half-speed.
But even if he could play, Yzerman should not appear in the game. He's no longer ours. He's the name and face of the Tampa Bay Lightning, and he must show them he's 100 percent their man.
