Elderly Man Dies Following West Michigan House Fire

GRANT TOWNSHIP (AP) – Authorities say an 83-year-old man has died following a fire at his West Michigan home.

The Muskegon Chronicle reports that Thursday’s fire in Oceana County’s Grant Township was believed to have started when the man was refilling a lighter. The fire destroyed the two-story home about 50 miles northwest of Grand Rapids.

The Ludington Daly News reports he was identified as Daniel S. Grubb Sr. Investigators say his wife was able to get out after he alerted her to the fire.    The fire was under investigation.
