Mobile Museum Brings Black History Month To Oakland County

The "Know Your History" mobile exhibit is reaching out to Oakland County. The exhibit pulled into the Oakland County municipal campus, 1200 N. Telegraph Road, on February 17, thanks to "American Legacy Magazine."

The goal is to "foster awareness of the impact African-Americans have made to the American experience."

The mobile museum is an 18-wheel traveling exhibition that takes students on a historical journal in black history. The exhibit features stories and magazine covers that highlight the depth of black history and culture in the United States. It includes artifacts and memorabilia from slavery to the civil rights era.

It includes an exhibit on Buffalo Soldiers and one on black history in aviation.

The mobile museum will be open in the parking lot of the executive building from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17.
