BLOOMFIELD TWP. (WWJ) – A construction worker was taken to the hospital Friday morning after falling 12 feet at a site in Bloomfield Township.

WWJ Newsradio 950′s Mike Campbell reports the accident happened at a sporting goods store under construction near Costco, in place of what used to be a pet supply store. The strip mall was once called the Miracle Mile Mall.

The man was working on the roof when he apparently fell through a hole. Fortunately, he landed on a second floor mezzanine inside the building.

Fire officials on the scene said the man had head, neck and back injuries but was expected to be OK, while the owner of the construction company said the worker had only bumps and bruises.

Workers on the roof were sent home for the day while work continued elsewhere on the site.

The injured worker’s name was not immediately released.
