Michigan's State Surplus Store Opens In New Spot

LANSING (WWJ/AP) - Michigan's state surplus store is opening for business in a new location.

"MiStore" has moved next door to its previous site in Lansing, at 3111 St. Joseph.

It's set to open Saturday. MiStore is open on the third Saturday of each month.

It offers surplus items that come from property seized by police, items voluntarily surrendered at airports and property no longer needed by government agencies. Merchandise includes computers, clothing, pocket knives, office furniture, desks, lawn maintenance equipment, bookshelves, jewelry, cameras and more.

The state Department of Technology, Management and Budget is charged with collecting the items and making them available to the public for purchase through the surplus store, live auctions and online auctions.
