They say when a player reaches the Double-A level of the minor leagues, he is knocking on the door of the major leagues.

And that was true of Brandon Inge in the summer of 2000 when I talked to him for the first time in Jacksonville, Fla. He would be rated the Tigers’ top prospect that winter by Baseball America. He would make his major league debut in the 2001 season.

Andrew Meeds..i dont know where you get the tuohght that Inge is not a very good defensive catcher from. 2001-.989, 4 E, 10 PB, 25/55 CS2002-.998, 1 E, 10 PB, 17/61 CS2002-.996, 2 E, 5 PB, 40/110 CS2003-.988, 3 E, 4 PB, 21/51 CSthose are dang good stats for a catcher defensively. also, in 2000 he was named the best defensive catcher in the Southern League while playing for Jacksonville. the Tigers have done everything they can to trade Brandon, because they respect his wishes to play everyday. the efforts have been unsuccessful, and now they are doing the best thing they can which is playing super utility with the Tigers. He will get the chance to play at 3B, OF, and C. It is better than nothing, and he has the chance to be on a WS winner. Right now, if he shows he can hit again, and keeps a good attitude, he could be the TIgers starting catcher in 2009 if they choose not to resign Pudge.
