Drivers Hit Black Ice, Slick Spots On Metro Detroit Roads

SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) - Early morning commuters hitting the roads Wednesday found an icy glaze.

Wet weather conditions combined with cold temperatures overnight left slick spots on Metro Detroit roads.

Several traffic tipsters called WWJ Newsradio 950 to report patches of black ice, especially in the areas of I-94 and Telegraph, I-96 in Wixom and I-75 at Square Lake Road.

WWJ's John Bailey said numerous spin-outs have been reported, many on Oakland County roads. Those vehicles are blocking the shoulders and causing slow downs in passing traffic.

The pavement might just look like it's wet, but it could be icy. Take your time, use caution and especially give yourself enough room to brake.
