Metro Detroit Gets Some Snow Overnight, More On The Way
DETROIT (WWJ) – Winter weather is hitting southeast Michigan and as weather forecasters predicted, the further north you go the more snow you will see.
A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 7 p.m. for Oakland, Macomb, Livingston and St. Clair counties. Snow is expected to intensify by late morning and continue through 7 p.m. Snowfall totals should range between four and eight inches, and winds will increase to about 35 miles per hour this afternoon.
The National Weather Service cancelled a Winter Storm Warning for Detroit and Ann Arbor Friday morning, but a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 1 p.m.
AccuWeather’s Dean DeVore said snow may mix with rain and sleet across Wayne County after mid-morning. Total snowfall could range from three to five inches.
WWJ’s John Bailey said travel conditions will be slow during the morning commute, and untreated roads could become hazardous.
We should get a reprieve from the snow, as WWJ-TV Chief Meterologist Jim Maddaus said we could expect to see sun this weekend and going into next week. Maddaus said it will be partly cloudy and temperatures will be in high 30s for the weekend.
