Detroit Police Arrest Armed Robbery Suspect

DETROIT (WWJ) - Police in Detroit say they've arrested a suspect who allegedly robbed two people at gunpoint before stealing their car.

Nineteen-year-old Robert Lee Cohen was arrested last Saturday and arraigned on felony charges, including counts of armed robbery and felonious assault, this week.

Police say around 8:10 p.m. Feb. 18, Cohen approached a vehicle on Oakland Street, just a few blocks away from I-75 on Detroit's northwest side, where a 35-year-old female was sitting inside her car and a 46-year-old male was standing outside the car.

Cohen allegedly robbed the pair at gun point, taking their car keys, personal items and cell phones, before fleeing the scene in the woman's car.

The male suspect notified a family member who called the man's stolen cell phone. Cohen answered the phone and supposedly agreed to meet that evening at a local restaurant on the city's westside to exchange cash for the victims' personal items.

The victims notified the Detroit Police, who responded to the designated meeting location. Cohen was apprehended and the victims' stolen property was recovered. A weapon was also recovered.

Cohen is being held at the Wayne County Jail on a $100,000 cash bond. He's due back in court on March 5.
