Unchecked Stress Can Pose Health Risks

ANN ARBOR (WWJ) - Feeling stressed?

Steve Thiry, a family physician with IHA Ann Arbor family medicine says if left unchecked, stress could pose a health risk.

"Your body gets all bound up - all day long, you can sit on a chair at work and feel exhausted because all that stress chemistry creates muscle tension. Unless you check in with yourself and 'unlax' you'll be carrying it with you all day," said Thiry. "You'll get upper back ache, headache as well as possibly raising your blood pressure and making you irritable when you get home."

Thiry says exercising, getting enough sleep and sitting down with people you care about are all ways to prevent stress.
