Funeral Monday For 9-Month-Old Killed In Gunfire

DETROIT (WWJ) - One of the young victims of violence in Detroit will be buried on Monday.

Family and friends will say a final goodbye to 9-month-old Delric Miller. He was the little boy killed in a hail of bullets one week ago at a home on Greenview, near the Southfield Freeway and Tireman. The service will be at 12:30 at the O.H. Pye Funeral Home on Plymouth Road near I-96 and the Southfield Freeway.

Police think an argument over seating arrangements at a baby shower led to the shooting. The boy's grandmother Cynthia Wilkins called Charlie Langton's morning show on Talk Radio 1270 last week to decry such a senseless motive -- baby shower seating -- and motivate action.

"That's where we're coming to….No that's where we're at," Wilkins said. "They're senseless, they're ignorant… They can
get guns, but they can't read a book."

Crime Stoppers of Michigan is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest. Anyone with information can leave an anonymous tip at (800) SPEAK-UP or call the Detroit police homicide division at (313) 596-2260.
