New York Fashion Week 2012

By Raquel Parks, CBS Detroit Fashion Blogger

On the doorstep of Fashion In Detroit on March 10, Raquel Parks has a roundup of New York Fashion Week.

New York Fashion Week may be over but the fashion world is still buzzing over the designer collections that appeared on the catwalk. As designers looked forward into the year, they created innovative collections to brighten up autumn.

From Nicole Miller's sixties-inspired theme to BCBG Max Azria's color-blocking, there was plenty of looks to love and choose from for fall 2012. One of the major trends on the runway was glamour.

For fall, designers decided to dress it up to offer looks that stunned day, noon, and night. Zac Posen, Farah Angsana, and Badgley Mischka were among those to present glamorous Fall 2012 Ready-To-Wear (RTW) collections.

Zac Posen's Fall RTW 2012 collection was reminiscent of old Hollywood glamour with a Japanese theme. The floral print, kimono-style short jackets, and dresses had a modern twist.

Posen's use of warm colors (red, blue, and forest green) contrasted perfectly with the crème, grey, yellow, and gold tones. One of the most remarkable things about Posen's collection was how he designed elegant, chic outfits for every occasion.

The tailoring was also very impeccable. Each piece accentuated the hour-glass figure of a woman. Overall, Zac Posen's collection was polished, sophisticated, and very feminine.

Farah Angsana was another designer who highly favored glamour in her collection. Angsana maximized glamour with her collection of luxurious, colorful cocktail dresses and evening gowns.

Angsana's use of bright colors and water paint print made each ensemble appear like a walking piece of art on the runway. The soft, delicate fabrics created a sea of eye-catching pieces that seem to float gracefully.

She accessorized the high-end collection with fur shawls. Angsana also fit in a few two-piece suits, pants, fur-trimmed coats, sweaters, and dresses with lace to wear during the day.

Farah Angsana's Fall 2012 RTW collection is best described as luxurious, extravagant, and fabulous.

Badgley Mischka, on the other hand, added a little edge to the glamour theme by creating a collection that was dark, futuristic, and glitzy. There was a touch of shine in almost every piece.

The collection was a mixture of pencil skirts, pants, jackets, evening gowns, and cocktail dresses. However, it was the use of fabrics that really made the collection special.

The gold lamé, tweed, sequins, and the metallic elements weaved into the fabrics made the clothing sparkle on the runway. The lace and satin fabrics softened up the day looks.

To complete the look, Badgley Mischka included fur, leather coats, and blazers to wear during the chilly fall days. Essentially, Badgley Mischka's collection provided a glittery, glam look for the fall.

These impressive and stylish collections emphasize that glamour is possible everyday. No matter the occasion or place, a touch of glamour can be apart of your outfit any day.

To create your own glamorous look, mix in bold pieces to your daily wardrobe. For example, try pairing your pencil skirt and blouse with a colorful blazer and statement jewelry. It's fun, fresh, and different.

Ariada Boutique and Lyudviga Couture Designer Boutique in Birmingham are great places to shop for stylish and unique pieces to glam up your everyday look. Remember, whether it's an intimate dinner party or a day at the office, you can look as fabulous as you feel. So indulge your inner glam!
