Red Wings D Lidstrom Out Against Blue Jackets

DETROIT (AP) — The Detroit Red Wings have ruled defenseman Nicklas Lidstrom out for their game against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Lidstrom is day to day after injuring one of his ankles Saturday night against the Colorado Avalanche.

Detroit recalled defenseman Doug Janik from the AHL's Grand Rapids Griffins before Tuesday night's game in Columbus. Janik has more than 180 games of NHL experience.

The 41-year-old Lidstrom has played in 1,556 games, the most by an NHL player who spent his entire career with one team. The four-time Stanley Cup champion was voted the league's top defenseman last year for the seventh time.

Lidstrom has 31 points and a plus-25 rating this season. The Swede might have a shot to match Bobby Orr's record of eight Norris Trophies he won consecutively from 1968-1975.
