DETROIT (WWJ) – A woman is dead and her husband hospitalized following an early morning fire on Detroit’s northeast side.

The fire was reported just before 1 a.m. Monday at a home on Ryan Road near Outer Drive. Officials said it appeared the flames broke out started in a bedroom.

A preliminary investigation showed the fire to be accidental.

The woman’s identity was not immediately released.  Her husband was being treated at Detroit Receiving Hospital. His condition was unknown.
