Charlie Langton: A Movie Every Parent And Child Should See

President of the Michigan chapter of Defeat The Label, Jeff Sakwa, joined the Charlie Langton show on Talk Radio 1270 to discuss "Bully," a movie being screened during the Uptown Film Festival in Birmingham. Bullying is the most common form of violence experienced by kids and thousands of kids are afraid to go to school every day.

Among other things, Defeat The Label is raising money for a 24 hour help line kids can call for help and travel to schools to talk to kids about how to handle bullying emotionally and how to prevent it. Defeat The Label tells the stories of celebrities who were bullied when they were young, overcame it, and became successful adults. They work with schools on curriculum and have been instrumental in getting the word out about this very serious problem.

While "Bully" is an important movie for kids and parents to see, the movie has a R rating due to a couple words that have been deemed inappropriate for kids under 17. While kids can attend with their parents, there is a movement to get the rating lowered with proponents arguing that these words are only uttered a couple times and reflect the reality of the situation and the world kids live in today.
