Excessive Speed: Warren Mayor Ticketed - Again
WARREN (AP) - A Metro Detroit mayor appears to have a lead foot when motoring around area streets.
The Macomb Daily in Mount Clemens reports Friday that Warren Mayor Jim Fouts has been stopped for exceeding a posted speed limit for the third time in three years.
Court records show he was driving 45 mph in a 30 mph zone on March 3 in Royal Oak, north of Detroit. Fouts was ticketed for "blockading traffic," which came with a $175 fine, but no points on his driver's license.
Secretary of State records show he was ticketed in 2010 for driving 75 mph in a 70 mph zone on a divided highway in Troy.
Fouts also was pulled over in 2009 for going 45 mph in a 40 mph zone.
