Gas Topping $4 Dollars A Gallon For The Weekend Drive

SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) - Folks are seeing gas prices at the $3.99 a gallon rate as they fill up for the weekend.

WWJ's Sandra McNeill spoke to drivers about the jump in prices at the pump and how it's altering their behavior.

"That's awful, for real, $3.99? said Tonya Miller from Southfield. "I'm about to buy a bike, for real, I'm about to buy a bike."

"I'll still drive - I live in Detroit and I work in Southfield," said Miller.

Paul Nixon was at the Sunoco station in Southfield and he says the price of gas is making him cut back on others items.

"I'm eating less food in restaurants and eating more at home ... because of (rising) gas prices," said Nixon.

Sam Bournier is a taxi driver and he says that the high price of gas has already taken a hit from his profits.

"Yeah, I own taxis ... two years ago it cost me $30 dollars a day to do my business to and now it's $50.

Bournier says that he has to work longer hours to make up for the rising price of gas.
