PONTIAC (WWJ) – The owner of two pit bulls in Pontiac was cited after police say the animals attacked a neighbor and her small dog.

It happened on Linda Vista, near Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and University Drive. Police say the woman was in her front yard with her dog when the pit bulls charged at them. The pit bulls seriously injured the small dog and bit the woman’s hand.

Neighbors who heard the commotion beat the pit bulls off with a shovel and stick.

The two dogs were taken into custody and quarantined by Animal Control.
