HIGHLAND TOWNSHIP (AP) – A renter says 60 sheep were killed in an Oakland County barn fire.
Earlier reports indicated that only 15 sheep died, but renter Peggy Zlatkin told The Oakland Press she lost 60 sheep in the fire.
Zlatkin rents the 80-acre Cherry Blossom Farms. She says she kept the sheep for making wool. The fire department received a call at 4:49 a.m. Monday.
When firefighters arrived, they found the barn three-quarters engulfed in flames.
Officials say the barn was completely destroyed.
It was located in Highland Township, about 30 miles northwest of Detroit.
Fire investigators from the Oakland County sheriff’s office are looking into what may have caused the fire.
