Charlie Langton: Snyder Says Bing Has To Stop Attacking and Start Solving Problems

DETROIT (Talk Radio 1270) In response to the state's proposed consent agreement designed to help the city of Detroit out of its financial problems, Mayor Dave Bing called Governor Rick Snyder "disingenuous."

To this, Snyder told Charlie Langton Bing shouldn't be leveling personal attacks. Rather, he should be solving the problem. He said Bing should embrace the people trying to help solve Detroit's financial morass.

"It was more a personal attack on me, which I'll stand by my record, we shouldn't be doing personal attacks on people, we should be solving the problem," Snyder said. "The way I view it, having people come out and say they don't like something isn't the best way to move forward in my view.

"What we do need to do, the current way of operations isn't working. We need to get to the point of people coming up with ideas."

Snyder went on to say that the proposed Detroit consent agreement is necessary for the long-term health of the city's finances. This isn't about a short-term fix. It's about a road to prosperity.

Langton asked the Governor how he plans to persuade Bing and Detroit City Council to approve the plan. Snyder answered that they should want this deal, that it's good for the city and that they have to act. He believes it's time for people to work together to get this plan going, to ensure that Detroit can offer better city services to its citizens.

Snyder wants this done as soon as possible.
