Injuries Are Taking Toll At A Bad Time For Red Wings

The Red Wings pride themselves on their depth and ability to roll four lines. They have overcome injuries before. But their latest rash of bumps and bruises is taking its toll.

The Wings dropped to 3-6-1 in their past 10 games following Tuesday's 5-2 loss at Los Angeles. They are losing ground in the Central Division chase, falling seven points behind St. Louis, and now they are more concerned that Nashville, just two points behind them, might pass them.

Detroit has put up a good fight in several games while missing stars Pavel Datsyuk and Nicklas Lidstrom. But the team had little fire in losing to the desperate Kings. And now Detroit must play on consecutive nights Wednesday against a well-rested Anaheim team that, like the Kings, also is battling for playoff survival.
