DETROIT (WWJ) – Drivers will have to dig even deeper into their pockets this week when getting a fill-up. Gas prices are up yet again.

AAA Michigan says drivers statewide will pay nearly a penny more for gas this week than they paid last week. The current statewide average is $3.96 a gallon, which is about 40 cents more than this time last year.

In Metro Detroit, drivers are paying just over two cents a gallon more for gas this week. The average price for a gallon of self-serve regular is $3.96 a gallon. That’s 45 cents more than last year at this time.
