Former Gov. Sports Hoodie In Support Of Florida Teen Shot By Neighborhood Watch Captian
DETROIT (CBS/AP) - Former Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm is sporting a hoodie in a new photo on her Facebook site, in support of the unarmed Florida teen shot to death by a neighborhood watch captain.
Granholm, now the host of Current TV's political show "The War Room," writes "The hoodie is a way of expressing support for the Martin family, and for all the sons of African American families who bear the heavy burden of other people's negative assumptions."
Seventeen year-old Trayvon Martin was wearing a hoodie when he was killed February 26 in Sanford, Florida. The shooter claims it was in self-defense.
No charges have been filed.
Sanford Police Chief Bill Lee announced Thursday that he will "temporarily step down" from his job due to the fallout from the Trayvon Martin case.
