Gordon Mars Huge Night With Mistake
Ben Gordon finally looked like a $55 million player Wednesday night. Fittingly, even when the Pistons' shooting guard enjoyed the best game of his 2 1/2 seasons with the organization, he still missed the potential game-winning shot.
Gordon erupted for 45 points in Denver, including a record-tying performance from long range, but the Pistons still suffered a gut-wrenching 116-115 loss. Gordon missed a 20-foot jumper at the buzzer after committing a bad foul which led to a four-point possession for the Nuggets.
Denver guard Aaron Afflalo got a continuation call after Gordon fouled him on a drive to the basket with the Pistons leading by three. JaVale McGee then slipped past Pistons center Greg Monroe for a put-back after Afflalo missed the free throw.
